GNYHA Foundation Receives Award to Continue NYS Partnership for Patients Initiatives
On September 29, 2016 the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) awarded the Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) and Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA) a two-year contract, with a third-year option, to continue their hospital improvement efforts under their joint New York State Partnership for Patients (NYSPFP). NYSPFP began in 2012.
Under the new contract, HANYS and GNYHA will be part of CMS' Hospital Improvement and Innovation Networks (HIIN) and will help hospitals to further reduce unnecessary readmissions and hospital-acquired conditions (HACs). Under the HIIN contract, NYSPFP will also partner with IPRO (New York's Quality Improvement Organization), whose inpatient quality improvement work with hospitals has been incorporated into CMS' PFP initiative
